Frequently asked questions

Neptune → Fiori migration: your questions

Should everything be migrated at once?

No. We handle the estate in batches of a few applications, starting with the most critical or the most expensive to maintain. Neptune DXP and Fiori coexist during the transition: migrated applications join the SAP Fiori launchpad while the others keep running. Each batch is validated before the next one.

Do you lose any functionality?

The minimum goal is like-for-like functionality. Neptune’s offline and mobile features need particular attention: SAPUI5 and SAP Mobile Services, on SAP BTP, cover these needs with a different architecture. The migration is often an opportunity to simplify screens and move to standard OData services.

Is it compatible with S/4HANA?

Yes. SAP Fiori is the native user experience of S/4HANA, and SAPUI5 applications rely on SAP standards (OData, CDS, RAP). Migrating your Neptune applications to Fiori before or during your move to S/4HANA avoids maintaining two user interface technologies and fits the clean core approach recommended by SAP.
