Process mining: your questions

What is process mining?

It is the analysis of your systems’ event logs, SAP or not, to rebuild how each process actually runs: steps, lead times, variants and deviations from the target model. Each event carries three minimum pieces of information: a case identifier, an activity and a timestamp, which is enough to redraw the process as it is executed.

Do you need to be on S/4HANA?

No. Process mining applies to SAP ECC as well as to S/4HANA or non-SAP systems. It is even very useful before a migration: it objectively measures existing processes and the custom code actually used, as the end of standard ECC maintenance, set by SAP for 31 December 2027, approaches.

What does SAP Signavio bring?

SAP Signavio brings together BPMN 2.0 modelling (Process Modeler), analysis of actual processes (Process Intelligence), governance (Process Governance) and sharing with your teams (Collaboration Hub), with native connectors to SAP data. Are our consultants SAP Signavio certified?

Yes. Our consultants are SAP Signavio certified and work across the whole suite, from BPMN 2.0 modelling, a standard published as ISO/IEC 19510, to process mining, through to process governance and sharing. They combine this command of the tool with functional knowledge of SAP modules to interpret the results.

How quickly do you get results?

The first findings usually come in four to eight weeks: data extraction and preparation, then dashboards on a priority process such as Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. SAP Signavio provides ready-to-use connectors and accelerators for SAP, which shortens the data preparation phase.
