E-invoicing by country
Timelines depend on the complexity of local rules (cases where SAP is already set up for the country and components are in place).
Unique local formats
Countries with a specific mandate such as Italy: around 6 months to achieve compliance.
Peppol network countries
Germany, Belgium…: faster deployment, around 1.5 to 3 months.
SAP DRC: for which challenges?
E-invoicing
Achieve compliance with e-invoicing obligations country by country, including the French reform, directly from SAP.
E-reporting & filings
Automate the transmission of transaction data and filings to tax authorities.
Multi-country compliance
Manage country-specific formats and rules in a single solution, with built-in regulatory monitoring.
SAP DRC: your questions
What is SAP DRC?
It is the SAP solution that handles document compliance from your ERP: creating electronic invoices in each country’s legal format, exchanging them through a platform or the Peppol network, e-reporting and tax returns. SAP updates country rules as reforms come in, such as the one that took effect in France on 1 September 2026.
Does SAP DRC address the French e-invoicing reform?
Yes. DRC produces invoices in the expected structured formats (UBL, CII or Factur-X), exchanges them with the accredited platform you have chosen and feeds processing statuses back into SAP. It also prepares e-reporting data. We configure it with your platform for the deadline that applies to your company.
Does it handle multiple countries?
Yes. DRC covers the main European and international mandates: e-invoicing in Italy, Germany or Belgium, the Peppol network, SAF-T and VAT returns depending on the country. For a group, a single solution in SAP replaces local connectors, with a common monitor to track each document. We check coverage country by country.
Do you need to be on S/4HANA?
No. DRC runs natively in S/4HANA, on premise as well as in Private or Public Edition, and is also available for SAP ECC 6.0 subject to the required support packages and SAP Notes. With standard ECC maintenance ending in late 2027, we favour a configuration that can be reused during your migration.
What is the timeline of the French e-invoicing reform?
Since 1 September 2026, every company established in France must be able to receive electronic invoices, and large and mid-sized companies must issue them. SMEs and micro-businesses will have to issue them from 1 September 2027. Flows go through an accredited platform (formerly PDP): SAP DRC prepares and transmits invoices and e-reporting from your SAP system.
