SAP digital transformation: your questions

Where do you start a digital transformation on SAP?

By analysing your actual processes, often with SAP Signavio process mining, then selecting two or three high-value use cases. The technical building blocks come next: Fiori applications, SAP BTP extensions or automation. This sequence avoids modernising a process that the data shows to be inefficient.

Do you need to have moved to S/4HANA?

Not to get started: SAP Fiori and SAP BTP also work with SAP ECC. But standard maintenance for ECC ends on 31 December 2027, with extended maintenance possible until the end of 2030, and S/4HANA brings native Fiori applications and embedded AI. We therefore prioritise work that can be reused after the migration.

What does SAP BTP bring?

The SAP Business Technology Platform hosts your extensions alongside the ERP rather than inside its code: this is the clean core principle recommended by SAP. It brings together development (SAP Build, CAP, ABAP Cloud), integration (SAP Integration Suite), data and AI services, which makes future upgrades simpler.

How long until you see results?

A Fiori application or a targeted automation is usually delivered in a few weeks to three months, depending on its complexity and data quality. We split the roadmap into short batches, each with an indicator measured at delivery: processing time, error rate or adoption.

What can Joule, SAP’s AI, bring?

Joule is SAP’s generative AI copilot, launched in September 2023. It answers in natural language, finds data and triggers actions in SAP applications, while respecting each user’s authorisations. Joule agents now automate tasks in finance, procurement or supply chain, and Joule Studio lets you build your own on SAP BTP.
